ZOUK CLUB KL Vth ANNIVERSARY presents FANTASIA

Zouk Club KL celebrated its 5th Anniversary with one of the most memorable parties Kuala Lumpur has seen for some time now. The theme was simply called FANTASIA, which was loosely based on the cult Disney cartoon but had many other elements of fantasy and surrealism thrown in for good measure.
The grand (if not rather epic) production of the event was one of the key highlights of the night. Guests who were made up of loyal customers and members, VIPs and celebrities with a huge contingent of the media and press, were treated to a welcome sight like no other.
Upon registration, guests were enthralled to the fully transformed courtyard area titled the Enchanted Garden. More than 20 different beautiful, bizarre and eye catching performers in various costumes entertained guests as they enjoyed a free flow of cocktails outside in the early part of the night. Any signs of a torrential downpour that was seen in the late afternoon had now dissipated giving way to a cool, balmy night time atmosphere that was charged with excitement of what lay ahead for the clubbers and revelers. Some highlights of the acts included performers in spheres, highly unique stilt walkers and a hugely entertaining pair of “golden and silver statues”. The fact that Zouk KL provided a lifesized TV for the performers to “act’ in made the entertainment all the better.
At 10pm sharp, guests were invited to take in the sights and sounds of the various rooms on offer:
ZOUK:
Zouk was aptly named the Fun House and was the centre of the main celebrations. At just before midnight Zouk was packed with a wildly enthusiastic audience following from a war-up set by Terence C. A very special video presentation of the last 5 wonderful years was shown to those present. The birthday gambit featured Zouk KL’s acting Managing Director Mr. Anthony Wong, Executive Director Mr. Cher Ng and many of the key members of staff accepting a commemorative giant birthday cupcake. The gambit was completed with a Moet and Chandon Golden Pod ritual which consisted of a Magnum of Moet and Chandon champagne in a gold cage. Bottles popped and toasts made, it was time to PARTY! Crowd favourites, Zouk residents and award winning DJ duo LAPSAP took to the decks to rock the night. The Zouk room party was bedecked with some of the most spectacular looking clubbers for some time now. Zouk KL had issued a call to arms for KL’s most fashionable to come out to be daring and outrageous as they can with a golden nugget of RM1000 to be given out to the best dressed as judged by award winning fashion designer and style maven CRIS YONG. The colour, excitement and pumping music all amounted to new Zouk room celebrating its first ever birthday in truly grand style.
PHUTURE:
Phuture was transformed into the Sky Kingdom where our R&B loving crowd were treated to a spectacular line-up of residents. Starting off the night were super residents DJ Luqe and Ray Rox followed by a much awaited DJ set from resident DJ Goldfish and his new MC Point Blanc.
VELVET UNDERGROUND:
Velvet Underground took a more underwater vibe as the Deep Blue Room. Here performers included a first time seen Mambo Mermaid and her sidekicks entertaining the crowd while DJs Leonard T and Alex worked the crowd into a frenzy with their now legendary Mambo Jambo music.
BARSONIC:
Barsonic was turned into the Music and Magic room where Twilight Actiongirl played their now trademark indie, rock and dance music to a heaving and enthusiastic crowd all night. An early part of the night feature included the first
and only indie karaoke.
ARISTO:
Zouk KL’s new champagne bar ARISTO played host the the VIPs, celebrities, business partners and faces about town. It certainly was a place to see and be seen at as many of KL’s cognoscenti partied the night away to the sounds of
resident DJ Shazz and special guest DJ Gregoire Pagnoux.
As the night drew to a close, more than three thousand happy
faces left the building happy in the fact that they had witnessed one of the best parties KL has seen in a long time.
